RIM Delays New Blackberry Playbook Tablet New Technology 2011

New technology 2011

RIM has taken the time to issue a statement, refuting recent reports that its upcoming PlayBook tablet has been delayed due to battery life issues. According to the reports, the poor battery life was due to RIM’s use of the QNX operating system that wasn’t optimized for tablet devices. RIM claims that any issues that were detected were on non-optimized pre-beta devices, which is good news for consumers out there waiting to get hold of this tablet. If everything goes along hunky dory, the BlackBerry PlayBook should still be expected to arrive sometime between February and March. The statement from RIM reads:

Any testing or observation of battery life to date by anyone outside of RIM would have been performed using pre-beta units that were built without power management implemented,” the company said. “RIM is on track with its schedule to optimize the BlackBerry PlayBook’s battery life and looks forward to providing customers with a professional grade tablet that offers superior performance with comparable battery life.
